Pizza Parlor Party!

Holy cow, love that we have had another beautiful weekend! Love the warm weather and the bright sunshine! We have been so busy with birthday parties, Easter, bridal showers, weddings, end of school year activities, and, of course, now summer activities that we are just now sharing Lexie and Brice's birthday party festivities. Today, we are sharing Brice's party we had with his friends and in our next post we will share the family party for Lexie and Brice. We hosted Brice's birthday party with his friends on a Saturday night and Lexie and Brice's birthday party with family on Sunday. We did two completely different themes. The party with Brice's friends was a pizza parlor movie night and the family party was a nacho bar fiesta. Since there would be both boys and girls at both parties and, also, since Brice is a teenager and Lexie is a college student, we needed both parties to be gender neutral and great for any age. Brice and his friends get together on weekends and have movie nights. And Lexie and Brice love Mexican style food. Therefore, both party themes fit perfectly! Both parties were kept simple, as we are still working on our kitchen. All of the dishes, serving ware and baskets we used we already had and even reused the tablecloths from Hailey's Strawberry Shortcake Party 1, Strawberry Shortcake Party 2 and Strawberry Shortcake Party 3. So, the decor we did purchase was minimal.

The plates and tablecloth are plastic.
We purchased them a few of years ago
for a summer bbq and used them again
for Lexie's graduation party (perfect school colors).
The mason jars we used for Hailey's

We brought our drink buckets in from outside.

We purchased the pizza circle serving trays
and popcorn boxes
from Hobby Lobby and Party City.

We baked chicken wings.

And baked pizzas. We placed the cardboard that came
with the pizzas under the pizzas to protect the silver trays,
so we could reuse them again at a later time.

The kids ate lots and had a great time!

Hailey's Birthday Strawberry Shortcake Part 3

Welcome back to Hailey's Strawberry Shortcake "berry" special birthday party! As I was planning goodie bags for Hailey's school Valentine's Day party (Valentine's Day Bags 2014) and preparing for Hailey's birthday (Hailey's Birthday Strawberry Shortcake Part 1), I mentioned that we hosted two birthday parties. One for Hailey's school friends on Saturday and one for family on Sunday. So all of the supplies we needed were purchased together, at Target, Hobby Lobby, Party City, and Walmart. In our last post we shared the party we hosted for Hailey's friends, Hailey's Birthday Strawberry Shortcake Part 2. Today, we are sharing the family party we hosted. For the family celebration we served lunch. We set the table up for a soup and salad bar luncheon and moved the dessert table to our buffet. We changed out the Strawberry Shortcake plates for thicker plastic clear plates that we can use for other occasions. We, also, changed out the Strawberry Shortcake napkins for green and white stripe napkins and changed pink plasticware to green plasticware. Two different parties with one theme! And not only did we still have a Strawberry Shortcake theme, but it also felt a little bit like spring. We are sooooo looking forward to spring!

Remember this was the table
set up the day before, on Saturday.

And this was the table set up
the next day, on Sunday.

On Saturday.....

And on Sunday.

Hailey loved and enjoyed the whole weekend!
We had such a great time celebrating with family and friends!

Hailey's Birthday Strawberry Shortcake Part 2

Welcome to Hailey's "berry" special birthday party! As I mentioned in our last post, Hailey's Birthday Strawberry Shortcake Part 1, we hosted two birthday parties, one for her school friends and one for family. Today we are sharing the party for her school friends. We displayed the goodie bags with thank you cards along with fresh flowers, and candy in apothecary jars as part of the Strawberry Shortcake theme decor. We set up an apron painting table for her friends so they were able to make their aprons as they arrived. And, of course, we served cake and ice cream. While planning her birthday parties, I was also planning her school Valentine's Day party goodie bags, Valentine's Day Bags 2014. So, any supplies that I needed were purchased together at Target, Hobby Lobby, Party City, and the cake was ordered from Walmart. Our Sweet Baby Love was in awe. Every time she walked into our dining room she would say, "Oh Mommy, it's so pretty!"

Hailey all ready to welcome her guests.

Hailey and her friends had a great time!

In our next post we will share
how we changed it up
a little bit to include lunch.
Two different parties using one theme.
Awesome!

Valentine's Day Bags 2014

Hello everyone! We hope all of you had a great weekend. Although it was cold and snowy, the sun was out and we had a wonderful weekend! We celebrated Hailey's 6th birthday with family and friends and will have our party posts soon. (You may like to check out last year's birthday party Happy Birthday Part 1, Happy Birthday Part 2, and Happy Birthday Part 3.) In the mean time, I thought you might like to see the goodie bags I put together for Hailey's Valentine's Day party at school. I didn't want to worry as to whether the bags were for "girl or boy". So, all of the goodies inside the bags are the same (makes life easy). As I was preparing for Hailey's birthday party, I was also preparing for her school Valentine's Day party. I purchased these brown paper bags from Party City when I was purchasing supplies for Hailey's birthday party. I purchased the Happy Valentine's Day stamp from Hobby Lobby. All I had to do was stamp the front of the bags, put tissue paper in the bags, and tie them up with ribbon. The bags are so simple and plain that making them into Valentine's Day gift bags was easy!

We hope all of you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day Heart Pillow And Sheets

Hi everyone! I have, finally, finished unpacking the boxes (except for the kitchen) and we are knee deep in birthday preparations. But, I wanted to take a minute to share with you these cute Valentine's Day sheets and heart pillow I found at Target.

I don't, usually, do a whole lot of Valentine's Day decorating.
I like to switch out accessories like pillows, throws, and fresh flowers
without having to go overboard with a whole Valentine's Day theme.

In fact, I still have the decor set up on our sideporch that I used at Christmas.

I planned it that way. I used a general red, white and snowflake theme
to carry us through winter and right into Valentine's Day.

However, when I saw these
I knew that they would be a wonderful addition
to Hailey's room for Valentine's Day.
The pillow feels like velour and is Hailey's favorite color.
The sheets are a nice cozy, warm, flannel
and are perfect for the cold, snowy, winter weather.

Just in time, too! As we get ready for another snow storm coming our way.

Christmas Side Porch 2013

I thought I would squeeze in another Christmas post before the end of the year. We love our side porch and because we use our side porch entrance, for now, it's the first thing we see when we come home. So today, I'm sharing our side porch. Not only did I use what we already had from our prior Christmases ( Christmas 2010, Christmas 2011, Christmas 2012), I used basic winter decor so we can use it all through winter. I also, created a little outdoor hot cocoa station while Hailey was enjoying the snow.

She liked making snow angels on her tummy.

And yes even in the snow, swinging is fun.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Hot Chocolate Bar

Every night after bathtime and before bedtime I read to Hailey while she has a drink and snack. During the warmer months she has juice, but in the winter it's always hot cocoa. A couple of years ago I saw this Dear Lillie Hot Chocolate Bar (I thought on Pinterest, but for some reason I didn't get it pinned) and have wanted to create one ever since. This year I am super excited that we were able to make our very own hot cocoa bar! We set up our hot cocoa bar on the breakfast bar in our family room and used items we already had on hand.

Yep, that is a sheet hanging in the background
(we have gutted our kitchen and are trying to keep the
dirt and dust to a minimum in the other rooms),
and the bar counter needs to be replaced,
and the trim needs to be painted.....

You can see how we used these apothecary jars for

We posted about our basket and pitcher here, Our Home ~ Autumn 2013.

The pinecone tree we used in our Christmas 2011 decor.
The red Christmas trees, ball ornaments, and pinecones, we used in our Christmas 2012 decor.
And, so far, we have gotten the most use out of the garland during Christmas.
We have used the garland on our mantle for Christmas 2010, Christmas 2011, and Christmas 2012.

We are loving our hot cocoa bar!

The hot cocoa bar is set up, the Christmas tree is finished in our sunroom, the dining room is almost ready, and the sideporch is looking festive. We are a little bit closer to Christmas!
