Our Home ~ Autumn 2012

We have been so busy lately and have halted some of our new projects so we can catch up on some projects we started awhile ago. It's nice to be able to finish some things. Our next big project will be our kitchen. We have gutted the walls and ceiling, built a half-wall, added lights and outlets, but still have a ways to go. We will not being doing anything more until after the holidays. The stove, refrigerator, and sink are working and that's all we need right now to get us through the holidays. Last week we shared Our Home ~ Autumn 2013 and our Side Porch Autumn 2013. So, today we are sharing our autumn home 2012. These pics were taken at our home we lived in last year. (For those of you who are new to our blog, we moved this past summer Exciting News! and Moving Days.) We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Side Porch Autumn 2013

Although I like to decorate with neutrals, I love color too. I love the changing of the seasons, along with the colors that come with living in the Midwest. I love to change out our accessories with each season and holiday. On Tuesday I shared our sunroom,  Our Home ~ Autumn 2013. And today I'm sharing our side porch, all ready for fall. It's hard to believe the state our side porch was in (Cleaning Up The Left Side Yard) just a few short months ago and the amount of work we were able to accomplish in such a short time. If you missed reading about our work on our side porch, you might like to catch up here, (Side Porch Inside Reveal) (Side Porch Outside Reveal and Rock Garden) (Side Porch Furniture). We are enjoying our new home and loving our side porch!

Our Home ~ Autumn 2013

As we live in the middle of unfinished rooms and in between the never ending unpacking and sorting, I decided we needed some "pretty". So, we have dug through containers to find autumn décor while embracing pink walls and blue trim. Today I'm sharing our sunroom which is the room that is off our family room. Actually the sunroom, family room, and kitchen are all open to one another. (If you didn't get to read or see the before pics of the rooms when we purchased our new home you can read/see them here, Our New Home ~ The Downstairs Before and Our New Home ~ The Upstairs Before). We eat all our meals in the sunroom. The only things we have done in this room, so far, are: repair a hole in the ceiling, wash the windows, and clean the floor. I like to use neutral colors for the base of our home. I like the way the neutrals look for everyday use and it's easy to change out our accessories, such as pillows, candles, throws, etc. for the seasons and holidays. I'm thinking the orange doesn't look so bad next to the blue trim and, thankfully, the pink walls are faint, so not so noticeable. I, absolutely, love the windows in this room.

And here's a little tip. Instead of purchasing items to fill up our baskets,
I fill and lift the candles with rolls of toilet paper.

Yes, we still have a lot of work to do on our home. The list goes on forever. But, we have accomplished a lot! Recently, we have gutted our kitchen and hooked up our stove (woohoo!), hooked up our washer and dryer (yay!), emptied many boxes to give us more space to walk room to room and although not finished, we are able to use our dining room. Hopefully, we will be able to share our autumn porch soon!

Very Mini, Mini Fairy Garden

When we moved this past summer one of the things Hailey wanted so much to do was plant a garden. Both, vegetable and flower gardens. However, I knew that we wouldn't be able to accomplish any major gardening this year. While perusing wonderful Pinterest, I came across many ideas for fairy gardens and thought, hmmm how cute! Except, I wasn't sure how to incorporate a fairy garden into our limited yard space. One day while reading other blogs (which is a problem for me because I get so caught up reading other awesome blogs that I forget, I'm suppose to be writing my own.....) I saw this idea on Top This Top That. I thought great idea, but we're currently using our firepit and don't have an extra one. But then, guess what! While cleaning and clearing the right side yard (Cutting Down The Bushes) (Cleaning Up The Bushes) and back yard (Our Tree Cutting Adventure) we dug up this!

So then, I got excited and thought instant mini fairy garden!
I spray painted it black, but didn't worry about sanding or smoothing
because it would be covered with dirt.

We purchased a pink (of course) pot and flowers.

And we used items that Hailey won
during our family 4th of July Bingo game.

Next summer we will add a few more flowers and maybe a fairy.
But for now, Hailey loves her mini fairy garden just the way it is.
